Staff Counselor

Kelly received her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia. She completed graduate studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where she earned her Master of Arts in Counseling with an emphasis in both Mental Health and Marriage and Family. She received her License in Mental Health counseling in the state of Massachusetts after working several years as an emergency services provider, assessing clients in psychological crises. After moving back to Virginia in 2009, she obtained her License in Professional Counseling and began working with New City Counseling in 2010. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and enjoys using this model in her work with both individuals and couples. She is passionate about seeing healing and restoration happen both individually and relationally in the midst of self-discovery and reflection. Kelly is married and has three children. Activities she finds especially restful and restorative to her soul include reading, journaling, running or hiking, and simply being outside whenever possible.
