Staff Counselor

Katherine moved to Charlottesville in 2004 to attend the University of Virginia. She completed her master's in Mental Health Counseling in 2006, with an internship at the UVA Women's Center. Katherine worked with Family Preservation Services until 2008, providing counseling to families in the community. She has practiced as a Licensed Professional Counselor at New City Counseling since it began in 2008.

Katherine enjoys meeting with men and women of all ages and stages of life. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and has completed her externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. She has training in story work, psychodynamic therapy, and internal family systems. Areas of interest include PTSD, anxiety, depression, abuse, body work, and relationships.  Katherine thinks that being with people in their stories is an incredible privilege and honor; there’s no other job she would want to have.

When she’s not counseling, Katherine can likely be found driving any number of her kids around in her super cool minivan that is chronically on its last legs (wheels?).
